DFB Sanctions Dominik Kohr with Suspension and FineDFB Sanctions Dominik Kohr with Suspension and Fine

The DFB has delivered its expected ruling on Mainz 05 midfielder Dominik Kohr late Monday evening. The player, who holds the Bundesliga record for the most ejections in league history, will face a suspension of three league matches and a fine of €15,000 due to his harsh foul on Hoffenheim’s Max Moerstedt last Friday evening.

Kohr was at risk of facing a more severe penalty after what was widely deemed a reckless challenge, warranting a straight red card. A potential four-match suspension would have effectively sidelined Kohr for the remainder of the league calendar year. However, under the current ruling, he will be eligible to return for Mainz’s final league match against St. Pauli on December 21st.

Despite this suspension, Kohr remains available for head coach Bo Henriksen in Mainz’s upcoming UEFA Conference League fixtures. The 05ers have been performing notably well in Europe, having won all three of their matches in the competition.

In contrast, Henriksen’s team is struggling in the league, currently positioned in the automatic relegation zone with only one victory and three draws through 11 matchdays.
