DFB Issues Suspension and Fine to Dominik Kohr for Reckless FoulDFB Issues Suspension and Fine to Dominik Kohr for Reckless Foul

The German Football Association (DFB) has announced its decision regarding Mainz 05 midfielder Dominik Kohr late Monday evening. Kohr, who holds the record for the most ejections in Bundesliga history, will be suspended for three league matches and fined €15,000 due to his aggressive foul on Hoffenheim’s Max Moerstedt last Friday.

The disciplinary committee considered imposing a more severe penalty after what was unanimously deemed a reckless challenge, which many believed warranted a straight red card. A four-match suspension would have effectively sidelined Kohr for the remainder of the league season in 2025. As it stands, he will be eligible to return for Mainz’s final league match against St. Pauli on December 21.

Despite the suspension, Kohr remains available for head coach Bo Henriksen in the upcoming UEFA Conference League matches, where Mainz has performed notably well, winning all three of their fixtures. However, the team is facing significant challenges in the Bundesliga, currently situated in the automatic relegation zone with only one win and three draws after 11 matchdays.
