The New England Revolution are preparing to appoint Marko Mitrovic, the head coach of the United States Under-20 team, as their new manager, according to a source confirmed by ESPN. While the contract has yet to be signed, indications suggest that Mitrovic, originally from Belgrade, Serbia, is set to join the club. Mitrovic, 47, will take over from Caleb Porter, who was relieved of his duties on September 15 following a challenging season that saw the Revolution finish 11th in the Eastern Conference, 17 points adrift of the playoff positions. Under Mitrovic’s guidance, the U.S. U20 team recently achieved a quarterfinal finish at the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup. He has also led U.S. youth squads at both the U19 and U23 levels from 2022 to 2024, including the U23 team that reached the quarterfinals at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. He previously worked as an assistant to Veljko Paunovic with various Serbian youth national teams, contributing to the team’s success in winning the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2015. Mitrovic later accompanied Paunovic to the Chicago Fire and served as an assistant at English club Reading. In his new role, Mitrovic will have the opportunity to work with several prominent MLS players, including former league MVP Carles Gil and U.S. men’s national team goalkeeper Matt Turner, who is currently on loan.
