RB Leipzig achieved a decisive 2-0 victory against Werder Bremen, allowing the Red Bulls to reclaim their position in second place in the Bundesliga.

The match began with an intense first 20 minutes, showcasing strong attacking efforts from both teams. Antonio Nusa delivered a powerful strike, which was comfortably saved by Mio Backhaus, the Bremen goalkeeper. David Raum came close with a free-kick that narrowly soared over the crossbar, while Senne Lynen’s volley, set up well by Romano Schmid, went just wide of the post.

As the game progressed, Leipzig began to assert their dominance, effectively limiting Bremen’s possession. The best chance in the early stages arose when Ridle Baku found himself with space in the box, but his shot went wide of the target.

Five minutes later, Ouédraogo tested Backhaus with a shot from 25 yards, forcing the keeper into a solid save. Ouédraogo soon followed up with another attempt, resulting in a series of corner kicks for Leipzig; however, Christoph Baumgartner’s subsequent effort was directly at Backhaus.

Backhaus continued to impress with another remarkable save just before halftime, deflecting a strike from Baumgartner that appeared destined for the far post.

The second half saw Bremen emerge with renewed energy, quickly creating chances that led to a strong save from Péter Gulácsi. Following a corner, the ball reached Keke Topp, whose header struck the side netting. Cameron Puertas also tested Gulácsi with a powerful shot.

Leipzig regained their footing by the hour mark but faced a scare when Jens Stage broke through on goal, only for Yan Diomande to execute a superb tackle to deny him.

Baumgartner then nearly broke the deadlock, but Marco Grüll managed to clear the ball off the line. Eventually, Leipzig took the lead when Ouédraogo unleashed a spectacular shot from 20 yards with his weaker left foot, finding the top-left corner and leaving Backhaus with no chance.

The Red Bulls extended their advantage ten minutes later, as Baumgartner won a header from a corner, allowing substitute Schlager to turn and fire the ball into the bottom corner.

Despite Bremen’s attempts to mount a comeback, Leipzig managed to secure the win. Although the scoreline suggests a comfortable victory for Leipzig, the match was tightly contested, with Bremen generating several excellent opportunities that could have changed the outcome.
