Celta Vigo has not ruled out the possibility of securing a loan for Fer López in January, and the player himself has expressed a desire to return to Vigo, six months after his transfer to Wolverhampton. However, all parties acknowledge that this dream is practically unattainable.

Currently, the young talent is struggling for playing time at the English club, which is languishing at the bottom of the Premier League. To date, he has logged just 117 minutes over five matches in the league, contributing one assist. Additionally, he participated in two EFL Cup matches, accumulating 118 minutes. In the last seven Premier League games, he has played only 14 minutes.

Having been transferred in June for €23 million at the age of 21, Fer López is in desperate need of game time, which he is not receiving in England. He recognizes that under Claudio Giráldez, his role would be significantly different. Last season, Giráldez handed him his first-team debut and provided him with ample opportunities, featuring in 20 official matches during the latter two-thirds of the season, where he scored four goals and assisted once. Naturally, the coach would be thrilled about his potential return, but he is also fully aware of the complexities involved.

From Celta’s perspective, the financial implications of bringing Fer López back, even at a reduced salary, are daunting. The club would need to free up salary cap space, which would likely require the departure of players such as Aidoo, who is currently seeing some playing time, Cervi, who aims to stay until June, or Marc Vidal, whose exit also appears challenging.

The coming weeks will shape the situation, but as it stands, the prospect of Fer López’s loan in January remains a distant dream, with little indication of it becoming a reality. The situation is quite complex.
