Dominik Kohr Receives Suspension and Fine for Reckless FoulDominik Kohr Receives Suspension and Fine for Reckless Foul

The DFB has announced its decision regarding Mainz 05 midfielder Dominik Kohr late on Monday evening. The record holder for the most ejections in Bundesliga history has been suspended for three league matches and fined €15,000 due to his reckless foul on Hoffenheim’s Max Moerstedt last Friday.

Kohr faced the possibility of a more severe penalty, as observers unanimously agreed that his challenge warranted a straight red card. A four-match suspension would have effectively concluded his participation in league play for the remainder of the calendar year 2025. However, under the current ruling, Kohr is set to return for Mainz’s final league match against St. Pauli on December 21st.

Despite the suspension, Kohr remains eligible for selection by head coach Bo Henriksen in Mainz’s upcoming UEFA Conference League fixtures. Notably, the team has performed well in Europe, winning all three of their Conference League matches thus far.

In contrast, the Bundesliga presents a more pressing concern for Henriksen’s squad, as they currently occupy an automatic relegation spot with only one win and three draws over the course of 11 matchdays.
