Reports from Kicker and the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung reveal that VfL Wolfsburg striker Jonas Wind has sustained a potentially serious thigh injury. The Danish forward will be unavailable for this weekend’s Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt. Both sources indicate that Wind is undergoing a series of medical examinations to assess the extent of his injury and determine the duration of his absence.

This development adds to the ongoing crisis at Wolfsburg, who enter a hectic end to the calendar year without a head coach or sporting director. Over the weekend, the club’s efforts to appoint Hoffenheim’s Andreas Schicker as sporting director were unsuccessful.

Under different circumstances, the news regarding Wind—who has yet to score for Wolfsburg this season—might not be seen as a significant setback. However, Kicker reports that Wind’s compatriot, Adam Daghi, who has netted twice for the team this season, may also be sidelined indefinitely due to adductor problems.

The only other attacker who has scored for Wolfsburg, Mohamed Amoura, is set to join Algeria’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations. The 25-year-old has expressed a desire to leave Wolfsburg and could be on the move in the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old striker Dzenan Pejcinovic, who scored a hat-trick in Wolfsburg’s opening round Pokal victory and has had some success with Germany’s U21 team, still awaits his first goal in the Bundesliga.
