Manchester United s Strategic Transfer Plans for Next SummerManchester United s Strategic Transfer Plans for Next Summer

Manchester United is set to enhance their wing-back options next summer, according to sources from ESPN, while also pursuing a central midfielder.

The club is actively exploring potential recruits to strengthen their midfield, with names such as Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, and Carlos Baleba emerging as candidates.

Additionally, assessments have been conducted on players from Wolves, including João Gomes and André, as well as Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller and Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid.

ESPN reports that Manchester United’s recruitment strategy for next summer centers around acquiring at least one top-tier central midfielder. Furthermore, there is a consensus that head coach Ruben Amorim requires greater depth at wing-back, prompting inquiries into the availability of various targets.

United is optimistic about their financial capacity to continue investing in the squad, anticipating the offloading of several high-earning players, including Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, within the next six months. Amorim remains focused on returning the team to European competition next season.

While the club approaches the January transfer window with caution, preferring to conduct most of their business next summer, sources have indicated that no options are off the table, given that more than a month remains until the window opens, allowing for potential changes in strategy.

Despite having spent over £200 million on new signings last summer, including Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, and Senne Lammens, there is a realization among club officials regarding the limitations of the current squad under Amorim.

Injuries to key players Cunha and Sesko left Amorim with limited substitutes during the recent 1-0 defeat to Everton, where David Moyes’ side played for over 75 minutes with ten men.

The loss positioned United in 10th place in the league standings, just one point shy of the top six and three points away from the top four, as they prepare for their upcoming match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
