Arsenal’s 13-year-old midfielder, Luis Munoz, is set to celebrate his 14th birthday next month and has recently made headlines by becoming the youngest player ever to compete in the UEFA Youth League.

Born in December 2011, Munoz came off the bench in the 85th minute during Arsenal’s 4-2 victory over Bayern Munich in the under-19 competition. This match was noteworthy not only for Munoz’s record-breaking appearance but also for the outstanding performance of Arsenal’s promising talent, Max Dowman, who scored two goals.

At the age of 13 years, 11 months, and 15 days, Munoz surpassed the previous record held by Liam Payas, who debuted for the Gibraltar-based Lincoln Red Imps at 14 years, three months, and one day in September of the previous year.

Although primarily a midfielder, Munoz played as a forward in the final moments of the match. Earlier this month, he was part of the Arsenal Under-16 squad that triumphed in the Premier League U16 National Finals, defeating Aston Villa in the final.

Max Dowman, at 15 years old, made his Premier League debut in August and previously played in the UEFA Youth League at 14 years, eight months, and 19 days.

The UEFA Youth League features under-19 teams from clubs participating in the Champions League, providing young talents with invaluable experience. In this particular match against Bayern Munich, Arsenal’s squad included several less experienced players, as they aim to expose them to competitive environments despite facing challenges in the tournament, having recorded four losses in their first five games.
