César Tárrega has taken center stage in the press room at the Ciudad Deportiva de Mestalla. As a pivotal member of the team, having played every minute of the season, he is confident that Valencia has initiated a positive shift in momentum. With two recent solid performances, the team has secured its position away from the relegation zone, marking what he considers the first step toward further progress.

“There is room for improvement. We have experienced a negative streak, and we need to secure more points away from home. The dynamics have changed, and this is reflected in the style of play, allowing us to continue on this upward trajectory.”

Regarding potential new signings to strengthen the squad, Tárrega stated, “I have a lot of trust in this team. From day one, we have had enough quality to compete and aim high. We possess a strong group to challenge, but any reinforcements would be welcome.”

Tárrega addressed tactical adjustments, noting, “We have been working on both options. We are implementing a three-player backline with Pepelu, allowing for higher full-backs, which can simplify our approach depending on the opponent. It is advantageous to have alternatives.”

On establishing a strong team identity, he commented, “I don’t believe this is a system change. We have been developing this approach since the beginning. Last season was different, and we have multiple strategies to deploy. If the opponent neutralizes us, we have other options. Perhaps we have finally found the right approach now.”

Reflecting on learning from the recent mistake against Betis, he remarked, “In elite football, one must live with errors. It is frustrating that my mistake led to a goal. We need to work on the psychological aspects to improve on a daily basis.”

Discussing the situation of teammate Copete, Tárrega praised him, saying, “Copete has proven himself to be a great professional and player. He is an excellent teammate. At the start of the season, he faced unnecessary pressure. He always gives his all and wants the best for the team.”

On the differences in playing alongside his central defensive partners, he stated, “Each player has their own qualities and strengths. Mosquera brought unique attributes that contributed to his success. I feel comfortable with Copete and Diakhaby, and we need to work well together.”

In response to questions about the coach, he said, “Since I met him, I was somewhat surprised. The squad has had no issues with the coach at any point. We are fully behind him and united. Regardless of what may be said, we will continue to work together as a team.”

Tárrega also reflected on his relationship with Mestalla, expressing gratitude towards the coach for the trust placed in him. “My relationship with the coach is very positive. He has given me complete confidence, and I feel happy and grateful. I believe I have grown a lot. The relationship with Mestalla can be challenging, especially when results aren’t favorable, and the dissatisfaction from the fans is palpable. It is inevitable to feel the pressure of Mestalla, but at this level, we must adjust to it. It’s not easy, but our job is to turn boos into applause.”

Addressing perceived injustices concerning the squad, he stated, “I feel that sometimes things are taken out of context; rather than helping, they create false narratives. We remain focused on our task. Misinformation does not benefit the team or the club. We are in a bubble, and such allegations do not help.”

Finally, he commented on his physical condition, revealing, “Against Betis, I sustained a knock to my knee; however, beyond that, I have only experienced minor strain issues, which are not serious.”
