Kicker and the local Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung report that VfL Wolfsburg striker Jonas Wind has sustained a potentially serious thigh injury. As confirmed by both sources, the Danish forward will be unavailable for this weekend’s Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt. Additionally, Wind is currently undergoing a series of medical tests to assess the extent of his injury and the duration of his absence.

This news further exacerbates Wolfsburg’s existing challenges, as the club enters a demanding final few weeks of the calendar year without a head coach or sporting director. Over the weekend, Wolfsburg’s bid to appoint Hoffenheim’s Andreas Schicker as sporting director was officially unsuccessful.

Under different circumstances, Wind’s injury, despite him not having scored for Wolfsburg this season, might not seem as detrimental. However, Kicker highlights that Wind’s compatriot, Adam Daghi, who has netted twice for the team this year, is also potentially facing an indefinite absence due to adductor issues.

Moreover, Mohamed Amoura, the only other attacker to score for die Wölfe, will soon depart for Africa Cup of Nations duty with Algeria. The 25-year-old has expressed a desire to leave Wolfsburg, making him a candidate for transfer during the upcoming January window.

On a more positive note, 20-year-old striker Dzenan Pejcinovic recently scored a hat-trick in Wolfsburg’s opening round Pokal victory and has seen success with the Germany U21 team; however, he is still awaiting his first Bundesliga goal.
