Concerns Grow for Eintracht Frankfurt s Burkardt Following InjuryConcerns Grow for Eintracht Frankfurt s Burkardt Following Injury

Sport Bild reports that Eintracht Frankfurt is bracing for challenging news regarding striker Jonathan Burkardt’s recent injury. The situation took a turn for the worse last night when the 25-year-old experienced calf issues and had to be substituted just before the 60-minute mark in their Champions League match against Atalanta Bergamo.

In his post-match interview, head coach Dino Toppmöller indicated that Burkardt would be sent directly to the hospital for an MRI this morning. The German tabloid suggests that the medical and coaching staff at SGE are operating under the assumption that Burkardt has sustained a serious injury, which could result in an extended period on the sidelines.

Burkardt, who previously faced a career-threatening injury during his time at Mainz, joined the club he has supported since childhood this past summer and had been in exceptional form. With three braces to his name this Bundesliga season, the Darmstadt native has accumulated eight goals over the first eleven matchdays.

Currently, Burkardt ranks second in the Bundesliga’s top-scoring charts, trailing only Harry Kane, who has netted 11 goals. He had just delivered another impressive performance against Köln over the weekend, scoring yet another brace and earning a spot in the Bundesliga team of the week.
