LIVERPOOL, England — Arne Slot has stated that he is “not worried” about his position as manager of Liverpool, even after the team faced a significant defeat against PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League.

Liverpool suffered a 4-1 loss to the Eredivisie leaders at Anfield on Wednesday, marking their ninth defeat in the last 12 matches across all competitions.

Currently, the Reds find themselves in 12th place in the Premier League and 13th in the Champions League standings, increasing the pressure on Slot to initiate a turnaround.

When asked about his concerns regarding his future with the club, Slot commented: “I’m not worried. My focus is on matters other than my own position. I strive to analyze our performance and assist the players as much as I can. It is evident that my approach this season differs from last season; individual errors stem from collective team dynamics. Therefore, I acknowledge that I need to improve, and that is my daily goal: to enhance the team’s performance.”

Liverpool recently suffered consecutive 3-0 defeats in the Premier League against Manchester City prior to the international break and Nottingham Forest on Saturday. The team has now conceded three or more goals in three consecutive matches for the first time since September 1992.

In response to questions about the support he feels from the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot remarked: “Yes, but it’s not in a manner where they reassure me constantly: ‘We support you, we support you.’ We engage in discussions when we are victorious, and they remain supportive during tough times. While they do not reach out to me every moment to confirm their trust, we have routine conversations, and during those, I feel their confidence. However, I have yet to speak with them following this game, so we will see how that unfolds.”
