Stuttgart center-back Dan-Axel Zagadou is set to return to the sidelines following another injury setback. Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß announced during a press conference on Wednesday that the 26-year-old will not participate in the upcoming match against his former Bundesliga team, Borussia Dortmund, nor will he travel with the squad to face the Deventer Go Ahead Eagles in the Europa League on Thursday.

Hoeneß expressed his disappointment regarding Zagadou’s ongoing injury struggles, highlighting the unfortunate pattern that has plagued the player’s career.

“We were caught off guard by this news of a significant muscle injury,” Hoeneß stated. “He won’t start training until next week. It’s just bitter for the boy, who demonstrated he could return to a high level of performance. It’s also frustrating for us, as we have a player who has consistently performed at an excellent Bundesliga level and is capable of excelling at the highest tier.”
