Support for Feyenoord’s Robin van Persie from Legends Gullit and Van Basten

omidbasir- Ruud Gullit and Marco van Basten have come forward to support Feyenoord’s coach, Robin van Persie, who is currently facing significant challenges due to a string of poor results. Despite the mounting pressure, there are no immediate plans for his dismissal in Rotterdam. According to Pierre van Hooijdonk, Van Persie enjoys protection from ‘friendly media’, including Gullit and Van Basten, who are supportive of his position.

During the Ziggo Sport program Rondo, Gullit expressed his solidarity with Van Persie. He stated, “I stand by Van Persie because I believe he is an exceptional player. He is new to this world, and it is important to provide him with some assistance. I believe in supporting him instead of undermining his efforts, especially since Feyenoord is a club I have a personal connection with.”

Van Basten also voiced his support for Van Persie. He remarked, “I am someone who defends Van Persie, but it is essential that fairness is maintained. A person with limited football background can still be an effective coach. While Robin has not performed poorly, perceptions can vary. Initially, things were going well, but coaching is a complex profession that requires perseverance. Over time, one gains more insight and experience in this role.”
