Manchester City is progressing with their pursuit of Antoine Semenyo, according to sources from ESPN, following productive discussions with the Bournemouth winger.

Semenyo is anticipated to depart the Vitality Stadium in January, as multiple Premier League clubs are prepared to activate his £65 million release clause.

Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea have all expressed interest in the 25-year-old player. However, City is confident in their chances and is advancing negotiations with the Ghana international’s representatives.

The release clause for Semenyo is valid for the first ten days of the January transfer window. Should he remain at Bournemouth beyond this period, the clause will reactivate in the summer at a reduced fee.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola commented on the situation, stating, “I understand that there is a lot of noise around Antoine. There are situations that we cannot control, but right now, Antoine is our player and he’s going to continue playing for us. If you ask me, I don’t want to lose him; I definitely don’t want to lose him. But, as we always say, every time the market opens, you never know what is going to happen.”

Semenyo is experiencing his most successful season in the Premier League, having scored eight goals in 16 appearances. He joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023 and has netted 30 goals in 106 matches as he nears three years with the club.
