Real Oviedo, one of the LaLiga teams most in need of reinforcements to secure their top-flight status, must first make player exits before entering the winter transfer market.

With all 25 roster spots filled, the club cannot register any new signings unless existing players leave. One candidate for departure is French winger Brandon Domingues, a summer acquisition who has yet to make a single appearance this season.

Another player with an unclear future is Venezuelan forward Salomón Rondón. Despite being the team’s leading scorer with two goals, his future might involve a return to Mexican football, from which he joined the club at the express request of Jesús Martínez, president of Grupo Pachuca.

Currently, Real Oviedo has scored only 7 goals in the league, making them one of the least prolific teams in Primera División history after 17 matches. They have recorded four consecutive 0-0 draws at home and have found the back of the net in only four matches this season, highlighting the urgent need to bolster their attacking options during January 2026.

Close to becoming the first signing of the winter window is Uruguayan midfielder Nicolás Fonseca, who is expected to join on loan from Club León. The 27-year-old defensive midfielder has previously represented Uruguay internationally and has played for River Plate.

Real Oviedo, currently second to last in LaLiga with just 11 points, will return to training this Sunday at El Requexón to prepare for their match against Deportivo Alavés on January 4th.
