AC Milan is poised to revamp their attacking options following a mixed performance in the first half of the season. Reports indicate that Santiago Giménez has become a focal point of uncertainty within the squad.

The 24-year-old forward arrived with considerable expectations but has struggled to make an impact, failing to score in Serie A thus far and recently facing injury setbacks. His playing style has not entirely aligned with Massimiliano Allegri’s tactical system, raising questions about his future with the club. This is not the first instance of Milan considering his potential departure; a similar trade proposition was examined last summer.

European sources suggest that AC Milan may propose a swap deal involving Giménez and West Ham’s Niclas Füllkrug. Valued at approximately $11.6 million (€10 million), Füllkrug represents a more economical option compared to Giménez, whose market valuation stands at $29.1 million (€25 million). The significant financial disparity, coupled with an eight-year age difference, enhances the attractiveness of this deal for the Premier League side.

Füllkrug, who has faced difficulties in England with only three goals in 27 appearances since his transfer from Dortmund, may welcome a change of scenery. His agent has indicated that a January exit is a possibility as the 31-year-old aims to regain his form. Milan views Füllkrug as a traditional physical striker, ideally suited to complement Christopher Nkunku for the remainder of the season.

A potential move to West Ham would thrust Giménez into the competitive arena of the Premier League, where vying for European qualification poses greater challenges compared to Serie A. Nevertheless, as Milan continues to evaluate their striker options amid growing doubts about Giménez meeting expectations, a winter transfer appears increasingly likely. This time, he may not be included in the club’s long-term plans.
