In his column for De Telegraaf, Kieft notes that both Ajax and Taylor benefited from this transfer. Ajax aimed to secure immediate funds to strengthen their squad ahead of the January transfer window, while Taylor has long been seeking a move. Although Taylor’s transfer to Lazio may not seem like a marquee deal, the €15 million base fee plus an additional €2 million in bonuses does not inspire overwhelming excitement. It appears that Ajax had limited confidence in securing a significantly higher amount for Taylor.
