Ajax Eyes Future Transfer of Stije Resink

Ajax is hopeful of finalizing several transfer deals in the coming week. However, it seems that Stije Resink is not among the immediate targets; this situation may change in the summer.

Ajax has been monitoring Stije Resink for some time, as he ranks high on their shortlist. According to ESPN, the FC Groningen midfielder has already had discussions with the Amsterdam club. Nonetheless, Ajax is unlikely to meet Groningen’s asking price this winter. Resink is expected to be available at a more favorable price next summer due to prior agreements made upon his arrival at FC Groningen.

In the upcoming week, it will become clearer whether Benfica’s interest in Resink materializes or if he will continue with FC Groningen for the remainder of the season. A recent injury he sustained during a match against Fortuna Sittard (which ended in a 1-2 defeat) could also influence this scenario. “We assessed the situation at halftime with the physiotherapists and applied some tape, but unfortunately, he had to leave the field injured in the second half. I’m not exactly sure what the issue is, but it appears swollen, and I was unable to perform at my best,” shared Resink.
