Ajax Eyes Souffian El Karouani as Winter Transfer Target

Ajax has been actively searching for an additional left-back to compete with Owen Wijndal. Recent developments indicate that Chelsea is unwilling to loan out Jorrel Hato, and another target, Julio Soler, is set to be temporarily stationed within England. As a result, one name remains prominent on the Amsterdam club’s wishlist: Souffian El Karouani.

It is evident that Ajax aims to bolster its squad with a left-footed defender this winter. Various Dutch media outlets have reported that Hato was viewed as the ‘dream candidate’ to temporarily challenge Wijndal for his position. However, Ajax faced a setback, as Chelsea has made it clear they do not wish to part with the 19-year-old defender, who made the move to London last summer but has yet to secure a regular starting spot, having appeared only five times in the Premier League this season.

In light of the challenges in acquiring a left-back through a loan arrangement, Ajax may shift its focus to FC Utrecht. The club boasts the ‘best left-back in the Eredivisie,’ Souffian El Karouani, who is reportedly under consideration by Ajax. With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, FC Utrecht is hopeful of selling him for a substantial fee this winter.
