Ajax is currently engaged in negotiations with Arsenal FC concerning the transfer of Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Amsterdam club is seeking a permanent transfer rather than a loan, although discussions have been somewhat challenging.

Due to the complexity of the negotiations, Jordi Cruijff has been appointed to facilitate talks with Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta to ensure the Zinchenko deal progresses. Journalist Mike Verweij of De Telegraaf noted in the podcast Kick Off that Cruijff is actively involved, even though he officially begins his role as technical director on February 1. “He is not making the final decisions, but he is addressing several important aspects and is assessing the situation,” Verweij explained. “People are becoming enthusiastic about Cruijff’s passion.”

In addition, this week saw the sale of Raúl Moro to Osasuna. Verweij commented, “Spanish clubs cannot easily pay ten or eleven million euros. The player has been experiencing homesickness; this is not an exaggeration. Currently, six million euros have been paid, plus two million in bonuses that are mostly guaranteed. Until those bonuses are received, Ajax will receive fifty percent of any future sale. Once the bonuses are secured, Ajax will earn twenty-five percent on future sales. It is a complex arrangement, but Ajax may still approach the original purchase amount of eleven million euros.”
