Ajax Part Ways with Heitinga: A Controversial Suggestion for Successor

Ajax recently bid farewell to coach John Heitinga. Just days later, former speed skater Erben Wennemars proposed on RTL Tonight that the Amsterdam club should consider Sarina Wiegman as his successor. This suggestion elicited laughter from the panel on ‘Vandaag Inside.’

Wilfred Genee brought up Wennemars’ suggestion, to which Valentijn Driessen responded, “That’s completely absurd!” Johan Derksen chimed in, stating, “He’s not in his right mind.” René van der Gijp added humorously, “He’s playing against Bas this weekend,” referring to guest Bas Nijhuis, who occasionally plays soccer for charity against teams with disabilities. Derksen reiterated, “Nobody takes that kid seriously. If he sticks to speed skating, we’ll be fine. Wennemars was decent at skating and could handle himself.”
