Ajax Secures Draw Against AZ in Late ComebackAjax Secures Draw Against AZ in Late Comeback

omidbasir- Ajax salvaged a last-minute draw in their away match against AZ, ending in a 1-1 tie. Coach Fred Grim expressed overall satisfaction, despite the team’s position in fourth place in the Eredivisie.

“We played a very good first half. The pitch was difficult to navigate,” Grim stated after the match in an interview with ESPN. “We had everything reasonably under control in the first half and created several opportunities, although we could have made different choices in the final moments. Ultimately, we didn’t concede much.”

Substitute Kian Fitz-Jim scored the equalizer after effective preparation from Wout Weghorst, who had just entered the game. When asked why Weghorst was brought in later, Grim explained, “We initially made other substitutions to regain control of the game. When we intended to bring Wout in, the ball was in play for a longer time. I expected it would take longer due to what I believe was significant stoppage time.”
