Alavés Defender Jon Pacheco Reflects on Frustrating Draw Against Sevilla

He attributed this disappointment to a goal conceded just before halftime, which he described as a result of a lapse in concentration that should not have occurred, noting that the strike from Sow deflected off him.

“After the break, we needed to wake up. In the second half, we turned things around. We scored what I believe was a legitimate goal, although I am unsure if it was disallowed for offside or handball. While we secured a point, we were hoping for more,” Pacheco stated in an interview with Movistar.

The Basque central defender refrained from being overly critical of Alavés’ performance, acknowledging that “the opponent also plays.” He remarked that with one less player, Sevilla adopted a defensive strategy, which limited the opportunities for Alavés to capitalize on their advantage.
