RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara’s transfer to RC Lens has been officially confirmed. The Bundesliga club will receive a transfer fee of €3 million for the Malian international. This marks Haidara’s first departure from the RB System Football after eight seasons with the German Red Bulls, having previously played for RB Salzburg and FC Liefering.

Although Haidara did not feature in any matches for Leipzig this season, he has been selected for the Malian national team competing in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. The 27-year-old made a substitute appearance during Mali’s opening group stage match, which ended in a 1-1 draw against Zambia. He leaves German football with a total of 222 competitive appearances for his former club.

RB Leipzig’s sporting director, Marcel Schäfer, expressed his appreciation for Haidara in a club statement, saying, “Doudou was a very important player for RB Leipzig for many years. The last six months have been challenging for him personally, and he has once again demonstrated his exemplary character by maintaining a positive attitude. We wish him every success, both professionally and personally, in the Africa Cup of Nations and in his new endeavor at RC Lens.”
