Ancelotti Addresses Endrick s Future Amid Loan SpeculationsAncelotti Addresses Endrick s Future Amid Loan Speculations

Brazilian national team coach Carlo Ancelotti has refuted claims that he urged young forward Endrick to depart Real Madrid in order to enhance his chances of participating in the 2026 World Cup.

According to sources from ESPN Brasil, Endrick is expected to join Lyon on loan in January, having already engaged in discussions with the club’s new manager, Paulo Fonseca. A verbal agreement between all parties has reportedly been in place for two weeks, with Lyon set to cover half of Endrick’s salary.

At just 19 years old, Endrick is eager for first-team opportunities, having only played 11 minutes this season for Real Madrid. “He is a very important player, as he represents one of the emerging talents from Brazilian football,” Ancelotti stated in an interview with Diario AS.

Ancelotti continued, “We are currently evaluating his situation. However, it is not accurate that I advised Endrick to leave Real Madrid for World Cup considerations. That decision lies between the club and the player. He must discuss his options with the club to determine the best course of action for himself and Real Madrid.”

Endrick joined Real Madrid shortly after turning 18 in July 2024 and had an encouraging debut season, netting seven goals in 37 appearances. Since the appointment of Xabi Alonso as the new manager after Ancelotti’s exit in May, however, Endrick has found it challenging to secure a place in the starting lineup, which has consequently reduced his chances of making an impact at next year’s World Cup.

Having made his debut for Brazil in November 2023, Endrick has been omitted from the national squad for four consecutive international windows. Ancelotti highlighted the necessity for Endrick to resume playing regularly to demonstrate his abilities, stating, “It is crucial for him to get back on the pitch and showcase his qualities.”

In a recent conversation with Placar, Ancelotti elaborated, “I spoke with Endrick at the start of this season. He was recovering from an injury, but he is now fit and must consider what is best in collaboration with his team. It’s essential for him to communicate with the club to make informed decisions.

“Endrick is still very young; this World Cup will not be his only opportunity. He possesses the talent to participate in the 2026 World Cup, but he could also feature in the 2030 or 2034 editions, and potentially even 2038. It is vital for him to get back to playing and reveal his true capabilities.”
