Antonio Cord n Addresses Sevilla s Future and Economic ChallengesAntonio Cord n Addresses Sevilla s Future and Economic Challenges

Antonio Cordón has broken his two-month silence. In the lead-up to the match between Elche and Sevilla, part of the twentieth round of LaLiga EA Sports, the Director of Football for Sevilla addressed DAZN LaLiga’s microphones. “First, I would like to extend, on behalf of Sevilla and our entire board, players, technical staff, and fans, our sincerest condolences to all the victims and those affected by the events that occurred very close to where we live. For us, this will be a very special match, and we hope to dedicate it to them,” emphasized the Badajoz native.

On the challenging situation: “What is done is done. We must now focus on building for the future, and today marks the first match of the second half of the season. We are hopeful that in this second half, we will achieve the objectives we have set for this season. Every match will be very difficult. We aim to improve, and that is our greatest aspiration, with the unity we have within the group, the squad, the locker room, and the staff.”

Regarding objectives: “When we arrived, we were aware of the economic situation, and we recognized that it would be a long-term goal. We must gradually work to improve this situation.”

On the winter transfer market: “For reinforcements to come, due to the economic situation, we know we must sell players. This means that if we sell players, due to the existing imbalance, we cannot utilize much of the proceeds from those sales; rather, we are limited to very small amounts. We also do not want to devalue the squad competitively. If any sale occurs, we will strive to ensure the best possible outcome, understanding that we will never be able to use a significant portion of that amount.”

Cordón also discussed the current situation in the club’s official media. “Whenever we talk about signings, I emphasize that the group is what matters most. This is an important issue for all clubs. Clearly, the transfer market for us… When we came, we understood the club’s economic situation. We must gradually overcome it. Usually, it is normal for us to have to sell in order for any signing to be possible. Knowing this, when selling, we are aware of how the economic situation stands, and we can only utilize a very small fraction to make new acquisitions. Therefore, we do not wish to sell and devalue ourselves. We must find a balance and seek improvement. It is challenging, but we will make the effort.”
