Appeal Committee Denies Betis Request Concerning Antony s SuspensionAppeal Committee Denies Betis Request Concerning Antony s Suspension

omidbasir- The Appeals Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation convened on Thursday and decided to reject the appeal submitted by Real Betis concerning the one-match suspension imposed on Brazilian player Antony due to his direct red card during the match against Girona last Sunday.

As a result, it seems likely that the Betis star will miss the upcoming Seville derby this weekend at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.

Betis still has the option to appeal to the Administrative Sports Tribunal (TAD), which reviews legality and procedural matters. The club’s legal team has timely submitted a document challenging the suspension and simultaneously requesting a precautionary suspension until a final ruling is issued, with the hope that Antony can participate in the match against Sevilla. Should the suspension be upheld, he would serve it in a subsequent league match.

The verdiblanco club anticipates that the TAD will decide on the precautionary suspension request by tomorrow, allowing them to determine within 48 hours whether coach Pellegrini will have the Brazilian winger available for the derby on Sunday. Previously, when Antony faced a suspension due to a direct red card, Betis successfully appealed, enabling the player to feature in a home match against Real Madrid last season.
