Arsenal Targets Livramento Amidst Competition from Manchester CityArsenal Targets Livramento Amidst Competition from Manchester City

According to reports from The Sun, Arsenal is exploring the possibility of a summer transfer for Tino Livramento, the Newcastle right-back who has established himself as a vital player in Eddie Howe’s lineup at St James’ Park, making a total of 18 appearances across all competitions this season. Livramento’s current contract runs until 2028, which may limit Newcastle’s negotiating power this summer, especially after previously setting a valuation of approximately £60 million for the defender. The 23-year-old’s performances have propelled him onto the international stage, earning him three caps for the England national team, as he aims for selection in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup.

Arsenal faces significant competition from Manchester City, which has shown a sustained interest in the former Southampton player. Livramento transferred to Newcastle in 2023 for a fee of £30 million, indicating that the Magpies could see a considerable profit should they decide to sell.

In November, after overcoming a lengthy injury spell, Livramento disclosed that discussions regarding a new contract had not yet taken place. He stated, “That’s nothing that I’m in control of. I leave that to my dad and my agent. For me, I’ve been out for seven weeks, and I’ve been working really hard to come back and, obviously, help the team.”

Reflecting on his performance against Manchester City, he expressed satisfaction, saying, “I’m very happy with how I’ve played. That’s my focus: staying where I’m at now and helping the team as much as I can.”

Eddie Howe praised Livramento’s resilience, noting, “Tino, who stayed with us during the international break, did a lot of hard work. He looked fantastic physically, especially considering he had seven weeks out, delivering a high-level performance against a formidable opponent.”

Additionally, Livramento mentioned having discussions with England manager Thomas Tuchel, who views him as a potential left-back option. He emphasized the importance of staying engaged during his recovery, appreciating the support from both Tuchel and assistant coach Anthony Barry, stating, “They keep in touch with me, and I value that.”

Livramento concluded with a focus on his performance at the club level, remarking, “You only get called up for England if you’re playing well at club level. That’s what I want to do: play as much as I can in a Newcastle shirt.”

Newcastle is set to face Bournemouth in an all-Premier League FA Cup third-round match this weekend. Currently, they sit sixth in the Premier League, three points behind fourth-placed Liverpool, and will subsequently compete against Manchester City in a two-legged Carabao Cup semi-final before facing Wolverhampton in their next league fixture.
