Arthur Chaves, the Hoffenheim defender, has officially completed his loan move to FC Augsburg. The 24-year-old will be with the Fuggerstadt on a six-month arrangement.

Major German football media outlets, including Kicker, have confirmed that the loan agreement includes a purchase option set at €6 million, which coincidentally is the same amount Hoffenheim paid to acquire Chaves from the Portuguese second division 18 months ago.

FCA sporting director Benni Weber commented on the transfer, stating, “Due to the injury-related absences of Chrislain Matsima and Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, it was evident that we needed to reinforce our defensive lineup. With Arthur Chaves, we are acquiring a robust central defender who meets our needs and is capable of playing in all three positions along the back line. His familiarity with the Bundesliga will allow him to contribute immediately.”

Chaves expressed his enthusiasm for the new opportunity, saying, “I’m very excited about the chance at FCA. My goal is to integrate into the team as swiftly as possible. I want to take on responsibility both on and off the pitch and contribute to a successful second half of the season.”
