Athletic Club Denied Tickets for Upcoming Match Against BarcelonaAthletic Club Denied Tickets for Upcoming Match Against Barcelona

Athletic Club will not have any tickets available for the match against Barcelona this Saturday at the Spotify Camp Nou, which is set to reopen following renovations, albeit still not at full capacity. The circumstances surrounding this reopening present challenges for the visiting club. Barcelona will only distribute a limited number of courtesy tickets and will not sell tickets to visiting fans. One of the reasons cited for this decision is the urgency surrounding the stadium’s transition, as it is not yet equipped to adequately separate the visiting supporters.

Earlier this Monday, Barcelona informed Athletic Club of their inability to provide tickets for the visiting fans. In response, Athletic Club released a statement explaining the rationale behind this decision: “With License 1B, it is not possible to ensure the separation, control, and minimum protection conditions mandated by regulations for accommodating visiting fans.”

Barcelona’s reasoning acknowledges the urgent nature of the situation, stating that “it is not feasible to establish a sectorized and safe access without undertaking some improvements that are currently underway and will be completed in the coming weeks.” Among the expected measures for future matches are the need for independent access points and the current inadequacy of physical sectorization. Last week, 468 Athletic Club members had registered for a lottery to purchase tickets, pending further details from Barcelona regarding the number of tickets they would allocate for sale in Bilbao.
