Athletic Club Engages Fans Ahead of a Busy JanuaryAthletic Club Engages Fans Ahead of a Busy January

Athletic Club is making strides to connect with its fanbase as the year comes to a close. The team held a spirited training session on Tuesday at San Mamés, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of 30,000 supporters. Under the guidance of coach Valverde, the squad is gathering momentum for a demanding January, during which they will participate in four crucial competitions. The fans’ response has been remarkable, and in keeping with the holiday spirit, the players exchanged gifts at the end of the training session. Notably, only two of their matches in the busy January schedule will take place at San Mamés.

Following a defeat to Espanyol on December 22, the team returned from the Christmas break, kicking off their first training session of the week on Monday. They will not have a break until their return from the Supercopa in Jeddah. The commitment in Saudi Arabia will unfortunately prevent the players from celebrating the Epiphany with their families, as they are scheduled to depart for Jeddah on January 5 after training in Lezama. Many family members of the players were also present to support them at the iconic venue.

The Athletic Club’s calendar provides no respite in the coming days, with training sessions set for both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Moreover, the timing of their match against Osasuna this Saturday necessitates an overnight stay in Pamplona. As the team gears up for the first match of 2026, players Yuri, Laporte, and Maroan will gradually reintegrate into the group tasks throughout the month. Yuri is expected to be the first to make a recovery. It is worth noting that Berenguer did not participate in the latest session, opting instead for a tailored training routine with coach Luis Prieto.
