Athletic Club Resolves FIFA Registration Ban Over Padilla Transfer DisputeAthletic Club Resolves FIFA Registration Ban Over Padilla Transfer Dispute

omidbasir- Athletic Club has successfully resolved the “discrepancy in training rights” that arose following the return of Alex Padilla from his loan at Pumas. The club has addressed the concerns that led FIFA to include it in the FIFA Registration Bans list, which imposed a three-window transfer restriction.

According to sources close to the club’s management, “FIFA has confirmed to Athletic that it has met the requirements needed to be removed from the Registration Ban List, and this will occur within a maximum of five days.” Previously, FIFA had issued a severe warning to the club, placing it on the transfer ban list due to a dispute linked to Padilla’s rights. He was loaned to Pumas in January 2025 for a season, with an option to extend for another year.

The goalkeeper, who Valverde utilizes as a starter in the Copa, completed the first part of his loan and began training for the second. However, the departure of Agirrezabala on loan to Valencia prompted Athletic to trigger Padilla’s return. This premature return required a payment of €300,000, and the negotiations over the player’s rights caused the previous dispute with Pumas, which Athletic has now resolved.
