Augsburg Set to Reacquire Striker Michael GregoritschAugsburg Set to Reacquire Striker Michael Gregoritsch

Sky Germany reports that Augsburg is on the verge of completing the acquisition of striker Michael Gregoritsch.

Yesterday, it was indicated that the Austrian forward was close to returning to the Bundesliga, although the specific club involved was uncertain at that time.

Now, it has been confirmed that Gregoritsch will be making his return to the WWK Arena, with his medical examination scheduled for later today (Monday). The nature of the transfer—whether it is a loan or a permanent deal with the Danish club Brøndby—has yet to be disclosed.

Augsburg has been seeking additional reinforcement in the striker position following the sale of Phillip Tietz to Mainz for €4 million earlier in the transfer window.

The 31-year-old forward will rejoin Augsburg after a three-and-a-half-year absence. Gregoritsch left the club in 2022 as part of a swap deal that sent him to Freiburg while Ermedin Demirovic moved in the opposite direction.

During his tenure in Bavaria, Gregoritsch made 129 appearances, scoring 31 goals and providing 8 assists before his transition to the Black Forest.
