Florian Plettenberg reports that Bayer Leverkusen is actively pursuing goalkeeper Jonas Omlin from Borussia Mönchengladbach. The former captain of BMG is not currently in the plans for his Bundesliga club and has also attracted interest from Sunderland.

With Mark Flekken sidelined due to injury, Janis Blaswich is set to take over goalkeeping duties for the foreseeable future. Following Leverkusen’s recent Bundesliga victory against Werder Bremen, sporting director Simon Rolfes addressed the media, reaffirming the club’s full support for Blaswich. However, he also acknowledged the necessity of finding a backup goalkeeper in the upcoming transfer market.

“Our objective is to enhance the goalkeeping team in the coming weeks,” Rolfes stated in the mixed zone at BayArena. “We fully support Janis and have confidence in his abilities, but it is important for us to strengthen our goalkeeping options. We signed Janis this summer because we believed in his potential, and I think he performed admirably today.”
