The “Bayern Insider” Podcast by Sport Bild has revealed that Bayern Munich is in communication with the representatives of Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté regarding a possible transfer. Bayern appears keen on bringing the former RB Leipzig player back to the Bundesliga on a free transfer. Additionally, the German champions have shown interest in Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace. Konaté, Guéhi, and current Bayern player Dayot Upamecano are all part of a significant central defensive shuffle. Each of these players, who boast substantial estimated market values, has contracts that will expire at the conclusion of the current season. Bayern is actively negotiating with Upamecano’s camp about a potential contract extension. As the January transfer window approaches, the situation is poised to intensify. Once the transfer period opens at the beginning of the new year, all three players will be able to discuss free transfers with other clubs for the upcoming season. This scenario also opens the door for Palace, Liverpool, and Bayern to negotiate sales, allowing them to capitalize on their center-backs rather than risk losing them for free. Upamecano (€60 million), Konaté (€55 million), and Guéhi (€50 million) are currently the most valuable footballers in the world with expiring contracts. Should Bayern succeed in extending Upamecano’s contract, their need for another central defender may diminish, particularly given his strong performances alongside German center-back Jonathan Tah. However, a potential defensive partnership between Upamecano and Konaté could still be appealing to Bayern. Konaté brings valuable experience from his four seasons in the German top flight, having made 66 appearances, and he recently impressed during a Champions League match against Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany.
