Bayern Munich Set to Secure Young Talent Virgilio Olaya

Fabrizio Romano reports that Bayern Munich is nearing a deal to acquire 17-year-old Ecuadorian centre-back Virgilio Olaya from SD Aucas. Olaya is regarded as one of the most promising young defensive talents, currently holding an estimated market value of €1.2 million. His skills have attracted interest from several European clubs.

According to Romano, Olaya and Bayern have come to an agreement on a four-and-a-half year contract, set to commence in February 2024. The German champions intend to loan Olaya out for the remainder of the season, possibly to one of the European clubs that have previously shown interest, such as Grasshopper Zürich.

It is important to note that Bayern cannot officially sign Olaya until he turns 18 on February 3, 2026, which may result in a delay regarding the confirmation of this deal. Germany’s Sport Bild has corroborated Romano’s report about Bayern’s negotiations with Olaya; however, only the Italian transfer journalist has asserted that a full agreement on the long-term contract has been reached.
