Bayern Munich s Stellar Start to the 2025 26 SeasonBayern Munich s Stellar Start to the 2025 26 Season

Bayern Munich has made a remarkable entrance into the 2025-26 season, achieving a record-breaking 16 consecutive victories. This impressive streak has eclipsed AC Milan’s previous record of 13 wins from the start of the 1992-93 season across all competitions. Under the guidance of manager Vincent Kompany, the team has showcased their dominance, with the sole blemish being a recent 2-2 draw against Union Berlin.

The season commenced with a tightly contested 2-1 victory over Stuttgart, the previous year’s DFB-Pokal winners, in the DFL-Supercup. A commanding 6-0 triumph over RB Leipzig helped solidify their early momentum in the Bundesliga. Notably, victories against Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain—winners of last season’s Club World Cup and Champions League—have sent a resounding warning to other teams in Europe, while domestic challengers Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen have struggled to keep pace.

At a health-related event at the FC Bayern Museum, honorary president Uli Hoeness expressed his elation over the team’s performance and shared insights from a recent dinner with Kompany.

“We are, of course, very, very satisfied with what we’re seeing,” he stated enthusiastically. “I’ve always said that when you have a team you’re very happy with, you can finally relax in the stands. I recently met Vincent Kompany for dinner and told him: ‘It used to be that in the 80th minute, you hoped the game would end soon.’ And now, in the 80th minute, you say: ‘I hope they keep playing for a long time, because it’s so much fun!’ The players are having fun. The fans are having fun. And we in the stands are having fun too. That’s the ideal situation for FC Bayern.”

Hoeness further lauded Harry Kane, who has already netted an astonishing 23 goals in 17 games this season. Kane also made history by becoming the fastest player to reach 100 goals for a single club in Europe’s top five leagues, achieving this milestone in just 104 games.

“What Harry Kane has produced here in the last year or two is absolutely top-notch,” Hoeness remarked. “What I admire most about him is his evolution; he started as a goal scorer waiting for opportunities but has now transformed into a playmaker and a player with a strong personality who inspires others on the pitch. That’s exactly what we were looking for.”

Kane himself acknowledged that individual accomplishments would mean little without team success, stating, “I could score 100 goals this season, but if I don’t win the Champions League or the World Cup, I’m unlikely to win the Ballon d’Or. It’s essential to secure major trophies. With how our team is progressing, we look well-positioned this season. I believe we are among the favorites for the Champions League.”

He continued, “Entering a World Cup year, there’s a lot of excitement and discussion, but it’s vital to stay focused on the present. Personally, I have six more weeks until a well-deserved break, and I feel good. If everything aligns for both club and country, I could certainly find myself in the conversation for accolades like the Ballon d’Or.”
