The Champions League consists of 36 clubs, with each team competing against eight different opponents during the league phase.

The BBC has secured the rights to broadcast highlights of the men’s Champions League for an additional four seasons, extending its coverage until the conclusion of the 2030-31 campaign.

Since the 2024-25 season, highlights from this prestigious European club tournament have been available on the BBC as part of a three-year agreement.

Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of BBC Sport, expressed enthusiasm about the renewal, stating, “The Champions League is the pinnacle of European club football, and we are thrilled to offer a free-to-air option for fans eager to witness every goal and critical moment.”

He added, “This partnership enhances our transformative football portfolio, ensuring audiences enjoy top-tier coverage across BBC TV, iPlayer, Sounds, radio, and digital platforms.”

Highlights will continue to be broadcast at 10:00 PM on Wednesdays during match weeks across BBC TV, BBC iPlayer, and the BBC Sport website and app. Additionally, clips will be accessible online and via social media.

Following the news on Wednesday evenings, a Match of the Day program will air on BBC One, providing viewers with all the goals, reactions, and analyses from that week’s Champions League matches.

The BBC Sport website and app will offer extensive coverage of the tournament, featuring live text updates, news articles, reports, and detailed analyses. Furthermore, BBC Radio 5 Live will maintain live commentary of selected matches.

This extended agreement for Champions League highlights complements the BBC’s existing domestic football rights, which include highlights of the Premier League and live coverage of the FA Cup.

Notably, US media giant Paramount has acquired the rights to broadcast Champions League matches in the UK for four years starting in 2027.

The BBC’s football portfolio also encompasses the men’s and women’s World Cups, Men’s Euro 2028, the Women’s Super League, and the Women’s Champions League.

Moreover, BBC Sport’s broader offerings include coverage of the Olympic Games, Wimbledon Championships, The Open, Six Nations, and rugby league’s Super League.

To catch the latest Champions League action, fans can watch highlights of every match starting at 10:00 PM on Wednesdays via BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app. Additionally, a Champions League Match of the Day will be available on BBC One on Wednesdays from 10:40 PM to midnight.
