The Champions League features 36 clubs, with each team playing against eight different opponents during the league phase.

The BBC has successfully retained the rights to broadcast highlights of the men’s Champions League for an additional four seasons, extending its coverage until the end of the 2030-31 campaign.

Highlights from Europe’s premier club competition have been available on the BBC since the 2024-25 season as part of a three-year agreement.

Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of BBC Sport, stated, “The Champions League is the pinnacle of European club football, and we are thrilled to provide fans with a free-to-air option to witness every goal and significant moment.”

He continued, “This deal enhances our transformative football portfolio, ensuring that audiences can enjoy the best coverage across BBC TV, iPlayer, Sounds, radio, and digital platforms.”

Highlights will be broadcast from 22:00 on Wednesdays during match weeks on BBC TV, BBC iPlayer, and the BBC Sport website and app. Additional clips will be available online and on social media platforms.

A “Match of the Day” programme will also air on BBC One following the news on Wednesday nights, showcasing all the goals, reactions, and analyses from that week’s Champions League fixtures.

The BBC Sport website and app will offer extensive coverage of the competition through live text commentary, news articles, reports, and in-depth analyses, while BBC Radio 5 Live will continue to provide live commentary for selected matches.

This extended Champions League agreement complements the BBC’s existing domestic football rights, which include Premier League highlights and live coverage of the FA Cup.

In addition, US media giant Paramount has secured the rights to broadcast Champions League matches in the UK for four years starting in 2027.

The BBC’s football portfolio also encompasses the men’s and women’s World Cups, Men’s Euro 2028, the Women’s Super League, and the Women’s Champions League.

Furthermore, BBC Sport’s broader portfolio includes major events such as the Olympic Games, Wimbledon Championships, The Open, Six Nations, and rugby league’s Super League.

For the latest Champions League scores, fixtures, and news updates, fans can tune in to the BBC, where highlights of every Champions League match will be available from 22:00 on Wednesdays on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app. Additionally, a Champions League “Match of the Day” will be broadcast on BBC One from 22:40 to 00:00 on Wednesdays.
