Ben Davies Faces Uncertain Future After Ankle SurgeryBen Davies Faces Uncertain Future After Ankle Surgery

Ben Davies, the Tottenham defender, has represented Wales in Euro 2016, Euro 2020, and the 2022 World Cup.

Davies has recently undergone a second surgical procedure on a broken ankle, raising concerns about his availability for the World Cup, pending Wales’ qualification.

The 32-year-old player was administered oxygen before being transported off the field on a stretcher during a Premier League match against West Ham United, which concluded in a 2-1 defeat for Spurs.

This latest surgery is likely to sideline him for Wales’ crucial World Cup play-off matches in March, further complicating his situation at Tottenham, where he has played for 12 years and participated in 448 games. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and Tottenham is reportedly in negotiations to sign Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson.

Wales is scheduled to compete against Bosnia-Herzegovina in the World Cup play-off semi-final at Cardiff City Stadium on 26 March. The winner of this match will go on to face either Northern Ireland or Italy in the final on 31 March.

Wales manager Craig Bellamy has praised Davies, calling him his “best player.” Notably, Davies is the only current member of the Welsh squad to have achieved 100 caps.
