Ben Davies Faces Uncertain Future After Ankle Surgery

Ben Davies, a seasoned defender for Wales, has represented his country in Euro 2016, Euro 2020, and the 2022 World Cup.

Recently, the Tottenham player underwent a second operation for a broken ankle, casting doubt on his availability should Wales qualify for the World Cup. The 32-year-old was seen receiving oxygen before being taken off the field on a stretcher in the 19th minute of last weekend’s 2-1 Premier League loss against West Ham United.

This latest surgery is likely to sideline Davies for Wales’ World Cup play-off matches in March, raising questions about his future with Tottenham. Having spent 12 years at Spurs and made 448 appearances, he is out of contract at the end of the season, with the club reportedly in discussions to sign Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson.

Wales is set to face Bosnia-Herzegovina in the World Cup play-off semi-final at Cardiff City Stadium on March 26. The winner will advance to face either Northern Ireland or Italy in the final on March 31.

Wales manager Craig Bellamy recently praised Davies as his “best player,” highlighting that he is the only current squad member to have reached 100 caps.
