Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies is set to undergo surgery for a fractured left ankle, an injury sustained during the recent 2-1 defeat to West Ham. The 32-year-old was administered oxygen before being transported off the field on a stretcher just 19 minutes into the match.

In a statement from the club, it was confirmed that, “Ben Davies will undergo surgery today for a fracture of his left ankle.” However, Tottenham did not provide a timeline for his recovery, leaving uncertainty regarding his availability for Wales’ crucial World Cup play-off.

Wales is scheduled to face Bosnia-Herzegovina in the semi-final of the World Cup play-offs at Cardiff City Stadium on March 26. The winner of this encounter will then meet either Northern Ireland or Italy in the final on March 31.

Davies’ injury adds to Tottenham’s growing list of sidelined players. Meanwhile, the club’s manager, Thomas Frank, is facing increasing pressure following a disappointing season, with only seven victories from 22 league matches, leaving Spurs positioned 14th on the table.

During the latter stages of the match against West Ham, Spurs supporters chanted, “you’re getting sacked in the morning” directed at Frank, who took the helm in June.

While discussions concerning Frank’s future have taken place, he remains in charge ahead of the Champions League fixture against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
