omidbasir- Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has encouraged the club to maintain patience with interim manager Michael Carrick, despite his remarkable start as the head of the Red Devils.

Berbatov, who won five titles alongside Carrick at United from 2008 to 2012, cautioned against making a permanent appointment too soon, referencing the club’s previous experience with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. “I am biased, of course, because I played with him [Carrick], and I hope he gets the job. However, let’s wait until the end of the season. If they continue along this path, then why not?” Berbatov stated in an interview with ESPN FC.

He added, “We’ve seen what occurred before with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer; it was a similar situation. So, let’s not rush to conclusions just yet. Let’s enjoy watching how United improves game by game, and by the end of the season, we can assess what happens.”

Since Carrick’s appointment, United has secured four consecutive victories in the Premier League against Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, and Tottenham, propelling the club into the top four and Champions League positions.

“Carrick is in a position to demonstrate his capability. So far, in the matches we’ve witnessed, everything seems to be aligning for the team and for him. The remainder of the season will serve as a test, and we will then see if Michael can secure the role on a permanent basis.”

The former Bulgaria international credited the team’s recent resurgence to Carrick’s exceptional communication skills. “He knows how to communicate effectively, making the players feel valued and trusted. This fosters the implementation of his ideas on the pitch,” Berbatov elaborated.

“Clearly, the manager and the system have changed, but the core of the team remains the same. We can all see how they play now—with flair, belief, confidence, and, when necessary, a touch of arrogance. It’s a pleasure to watch them at this moment.”

As United prepares for Tuesday’s Premier League match against West Ham United, they aim to achieve five consecutive victories for the first time since 2024.
