Betis Files Appeal Against Natan s Yellow CardBetis Files Appeal Against Natan s Yellow Card

The legal services of Real Betis, after reviewing all available footage and the report from the Catalan referee García Verdura, have opted to file an appeal with the Disciplinary Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation concerning the yellow card issued to Natan during last Sunday’s La Liga match at Mestalla against Valencia.

The television broadcast did not clarify whether, as the referee stated in the match report, Natan made contact with Thierry during the play that led to the caution. According to the official, the yellow card was issued for “recklessly bringing down an opponent in the contest for the ball,” a characterization that the club feels does not accurately represent what occurred during the incident.

Real Betis is particularly keen on having this card rescinded, as it marks the fourth yellow card received by the Brazilian defender in La Liga this season. This brings him perilously close to a suspension due to accumulation of yellow cards, especially with the derby approaching. Pellegrini’s side will host Girona following the international break, and their next match will be at Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán at the end of November against their longstanding rivals.
