Betis on the Brink of Full Squad RecoveryBetis on the Brink of Full Squad Recovery

The challenge of achieving a fully fit squad for the first time this season is coming closer for Real Betis. Following the return of Isco Alarcón, who had been out for over three months due to a fibula fracture, and with Junior Firpo and Ricardo Rodríguez ready to play again (both included in the squad against Girona), the only player currently unavailable for the verdiblancos is Pau López, who is dealing with gastroenteritis.

The Girona goalkeeper sustained an injury during the warm-up before the league match against Mallorca in early November. Medical examinations confirmed that he had suffered a rupture of the tendon of the flexor digitorum muscle in his right leg. Since then, he has been unable to train with the team, focusing instead on rehabilitation at the club’s facilities with the reassessment and physiotherapy staff.

On Monday, Betis finally shared images of Pau López training solo on the pitch at the Ciudad Deportiva Luis del Sol. The club accompanied the photographs with a message: “Back on the pitch to continue his recovery. Keep it up, Pau!” Manager Manuel Pellegrini is aware that he will not have the Girona native available for Thursday’s Europa League match against Utrecht, nor for the derby on Sunday. Pau is pushing to return by early December, a month that presents a packed schedule for his team.
