On Friday, Ángel Haro, the president of Real Betis, spoke to the club’s official media regarding several significant topics. He discussed Manuel Pellegrini’s contract renewal until 2027, the injuries to Isco and Amrabat, the team’s progress in the UEFA Europa League following a victory over Utrecht, and their approach to the upcoming Seville derby on Sunday.

Regarding Pellegrini’s renewal, Haro expressed, “This is very positive, as we have already been working with Manuel for some time. We have achieved a level of sporting stability that has been unprecedented for Betis, and we are satisfied with his work. We have said repeatedly that when the circumstances are right, we would proceed with the renewal, and that moment has arrived. This success is a collective effort involving the coach, technical staff, players, and the club, and we hope to maintain this wonderful union over time.”

On the injuries to Isco and Amrabat, he remarked, “This situation is unfortunate and quite rare in football, where two teammates collide during play and both sustain injuries. However, we must remain optimistic; I sense some pessimism around this. They are undoubtedly important players, but the strength of our team lies in its collective effort. I am confident that those who step in will perform well as we prepare for the derby.”

Haro also commented on the team’s European aspirations, stating, “Yes, European competition is a major focus for us. The entire group is eager to advance further in this tournament. We made significant progress yesterday in our pursuit of the next round, and ideally, we aim to be among the top eight, which would lighten our schedule for the season. Therefore, I am very pleased with our progress in Europe.”

As for the derby, he emphasized, “Betis arrives with great enthusiasm and strength. We have built a squad capable of competing across all fronts, and we are approaching this derby with high spirits. I believe we will win because the team is highly committed. Regardless of who takes the field, we will see a Betis side that plays with personality and determination from the very first minute.”

Lastly, he noted, “Betis tends to thrive in challenging situations. I am confident that we will deliver an outstanding performance in the derby.”
