The sporting director of Real Betis, Manu Fajardo, has refrained from confirming the completion of Álvaro Fidalgo’s transfer to the club. However, he suggested that the Asturian player is expected to become the team’s first signing in the upcoming winter transfer window.

In an interview with Movistar LaLiga TV, prior to the match against Valencia at La Cartuja, Fajardo remarked, “We have been closely monitoring Álvaro Fidalgo. We are finalizing the last details. Given the injuries we are experiencing, a talent like him is welcome, even though we initially planned for a summer move; we have accelerated the process.”

Fajardo elaborated on the qualities Fidalgo brings to the team, stating, “He can play as an 8 or a 10, possesses exquisite technique, and has a good capacity for late runs into the box, which aligns with Betis’s identity.”

Additionally, Fajardo left the possibility open for further signings on Monday, the last day of the transfer market. The club is working on facilitating the departure of Cédric Bakambu, which would create financial space to potentially bring in another forward—a position the team is keen to strengthen for the second half of the season. “You never know if more will happen while the market is still open,” he added.
