Bordal s Expresses Disappointment and Calls for Reinforcements After Tough LossBordal s Expresses Disappointment and Calls for Reinforcements After Tough Loss

José Bordalás, the head coach of Getafe, expressed his disappointment after the team suffered a last-minute defeat to Real Sociedad. Speaking to DAZN, he called for reinforcements and lamented the challenges the team is facing this season, stating, “I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, and I don’t deserve what is happening this year.”

Bordalás described the match as particularly tough, indicating that it seemed destined for a draw until the final moments. “It was a difficult moment after we equalized at 1-1, only to concede a goal from a corner that made it 1-2. Given the current state of the team, which is depleted, I can only commend the players. We ended the match with youngsters and players out of their usual positions, without any central defenders… I wouldn’t wish this on anyone,” he remarked.

Reflecting on the equalizer, he noted, “With only a few minutes left, I instructed Nyom to push forward to see if we could capitalize on a second opportunity, which we did when Juanmi scored. This was an incredible reward considering our situation. However, there is a clear distinction; they are a top team with high-quality players.”

When asked about achieving another miracle this season, he responded, “Miracles are not realistic. This is the top division, and we cannot compete with players lacking experience, particularly those coming from Segunda RFEF. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, and I don’t deserve what is occurring this season.”

Regarding potential winter signings, Bordalás stated, “I cannot comment on specific names; I do not know what will happen. The situation is clear for everyone to see, and the team needs assistance, or we will not be able to compete. We are limited in our capabilities.”

Later, in a press conference at the Coliseum, Bordalás reiterated his concerns regarding the match, saying, “We had to field youth players and position changes. I don’t deserve what I am going through this season. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.”

Expressing his personal feelings, he said, “I am sad and do not deserve what is happening. I am a coach known for maximizing performance, but eventually, a pencil runs out when sharpened repeatedly; we have exhausted our resources. This is the reality. I do not deserve this, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.”

On the current team situation, he stated, “I am speaking about reality, and it’s evident for all to see. We are depleted, lacking players. There are individuals like Soria, Luis, and Mauro who are giving their all, playing every minute and pushing themselves to the limit, which is taking a toll. We faced a formidable opponent, and we did our best. The goal was a significant achievement that brought joy to the boys, but it is unfortunate to concede at the last moment.”

Finally, addressing the team’s prospects for survival, he said, “I will not discuss that right now; we need to rest and prepare for the upcoming match against Valencia, a direct rival in the standings. These are crucial games, and we must try to recuperate, disconnect as much as possible, and recover from this blow, which, while unfortunate, is somewhat expected. Losing in the final moments stings more. Real Sociedad is a team with greater resources than us.”
